Lightridge is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, they and the Stone Bridge Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lightridge has eight straight victories, Stone Bridge has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Lightridge made easy work of John Champe and carried off a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bolts, who have now won three matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

04/03/25 vs Loudoun Valley | 5 |

04/23/24 @ Potomac Falls | 5 |
05/22/24 @ Independence | 4 |
Karissa Bowes tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Lightridge got a big performance out of Larissa Azurin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Azurin has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Sullivan, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lightridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Champe only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, Stone Bridge scored the most runs they've had this season last Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Heritage by a score of 14-13. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Lightridge pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Stone Bridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Lightridge took their win against Stone Bridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Bolts repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
