The St. David's Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight defeat. They fell just short of Wake Christian Academy by a score of 83-80. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (73), St. David's still had to take the loss.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was George Coleman, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Copeland, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Wake Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Williams, who scored 39 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Beckett Coon, who scored 22 points along with six steals.
St. David's has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Wake Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
St. David's won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Trinity Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Trinity Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully St. David's likes a good challenge. As for Wake Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against GRACE Christian at 6:45 p.m. on February 2nd. Wake Christian Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins, GRACE Christian a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
