The Show Low Cougars will square off against the Holbrook Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Show Low will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Show Low came out on top against Alchesay on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run fourth inning. The Cougars blew past the Falcons 15-2. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Kash Perkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Landon Eriksen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Show Low was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Holbrook hadn't done well against Winslow recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Roadrunners walked away with a 9-5 win over the Bulldogs.
Baler Reidhead was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Holbrook's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-1 (and 6-12 when he doesn't). Reidhead was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Holbrook let Justin Maestas and Niko Espitia run wild. Maestas went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Espitia went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Holbrook is 5-1 when Maestas posts two or more runs, but 6-12 otherwise. Ty Larson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Show Low's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Holbrook, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Show Low hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Holbrook struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
