North Central II/Bay Football recap Oct. 16, 2012
St. Vincent de Paul moved up to 755 from 798 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in North Central II/Bay Football. The Mustangs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Emery 34-20.
Upper Lake extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Elizabeth, 66-8. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
California School for the Deaf's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Carlos Lopez threw for 237 and two touchdowns and Johnny Morales had 80 yards receiving. On the ground Adam Wemmer chipped in 19 yards. Michaelson Liddle helped California School for the Deaf's passing attack out by catching three balls for 70 yards.
St. Vincent de Paul's Mitch Sheppard and Arman Yektaparast have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sheppard has thrown for 1163 yards this season, while Yektaparast, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 27 catches for 480 yards. The Eagles' Brian Freeman leads the league in rushing yards with 1029.
Anthony Feliciano of the Tomales is only 79 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 116 carries Feliciano has accumulated 921 yard this year.
A big matchup in North Central II/Bay Football this week will be when Calistoga takes on Upper Lake. The Wildcats are currently in fifth, while the Cougars are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when the Mustangs and the Braves face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, St. Vincent de Paul comes in having scored 227 this season, while Tomales has scored 237. The Mustangs scored 34 points last week as they topped the Spartans.
Upper Lake took down the Mustangs 66-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
