Baseball Recap: Lancaster Mennonite's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak on the Road

The Lancaster Mennonite Blazers earned a 7-2 victory over the Shalom Christian Academy Flames on Monday.

Ian Yen was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Yen was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Brady Kinney was excellent, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Kyler Buckwalter was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Lancaster Mennonite's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Shalom Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.

Looking ahead, Lancaster Mennonite will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Northern Lebanon at 4:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lancaster Mennonite 3, Northern Lebanon 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Shalom Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
