Basketball Recap: Midfield Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

Midfield had won five straight games and Kamiya Webb did her part to make it six on Wednesday. The Midfield Patriots managed a 73-67 win over the Lanett Panthers thanks in part to Webb, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 39 times she's played.

Jazmin Johnson was another key player, putting up 17 points along with six assists and six boards. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Armani Langdon, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on her way to 26 points. Those 26 points gave Langdon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nakerionna Heard, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Midfield's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Lanett, they moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Midfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-32 win against Pike Road on the 19th. As for Lanett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 86-43 defeat against Hewitt-Trussville on the 19th.
