The McCutcheon Mavericks won the last time they faced the Western Panthers, and things went their way on Thursday too. McCutcheon came out on top against Western by a score of 58-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for McCutcheon.
McCutcheon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kalea Washington led the charge by scoring nine points along with 13 rebounds and five blocks. Washington has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. Aubri Mullendore was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
Western lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mackenzie York, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals. York is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hunt, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
McCutcheon's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. As for Western, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.
McCutcheon will head out on the road to challenge West Lafayette at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. West Lafayette is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Western, they will take on Twin Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Twin Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
