North Gaston is 0-10 against Crest since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildcats will host the Chargers at 5:30 p.m. North Gaston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
North Gaston came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of South Point by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since March 18, 2025.
Parker Gordon was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Gordon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Gordon wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Carpenter, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Crest entered their tilt with Huss on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Huskies a 21-0 shutout. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Allie Summer was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalyn Bowen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base.
Crest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Crest's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for North Gaston, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Gaston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Crest struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Gaston might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Crest in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
