The Eastern Randolph Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Wheatmore. If Eastern Randolph was looking for revenge after losing 46-32 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the loss, Eastern Randolph had strong showings from Ziera Watson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Kenly Whitaker, who scored nine points along with five assists. That was a full 41.5% of Eastern Randolph's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Eastern Randolph dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.4 points per game. As for Wheatmore, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
Coincidentally, Eastern Randolph and the Warriors will both be playing the Cougars the next time they take the court. Eastern Randolph will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Warriors will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
