The West Orange Mountaineers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They put the hurt on Columbia with a sharp 71-45 win. The victory was just what West Orange needed coming off of a 68-35 loss in their prior match.
West Orange was led to victory by Kyley Gary-Grayson and Anaya Karriem. Gary-Grayson scored 17 points, while Karriem dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Baskin, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
West Orange's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Columbia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
West Orange won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Notre Dame Academy at 2:15 p.m. on January 7th. Notre Dame Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to face off against Immaculate Conception at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Immaculate Conception's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Columbia has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
