Baseball Recap: Twin Lakes Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

After losing to Western the last time they met, Twin Lakes decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Indians put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-5 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mason Brummett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Twin Lakes: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Carson Wagner was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Twin Lakes' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Dold, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Twin Lakes lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April.

Twin Lakes is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Western, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 19-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Twin Lakes will welcome Rochester at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Zebras' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Western, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against North Putnam at 12:00 p.m.
