The Troy Trojans were the 73-50 winner over the Fairborn Skyhawks when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Troy fell just short of Fairborn by a score of 42-39.
Fairborn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sean Townsend out in front who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Townsend continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taiyou Williams, who scored 13 points.
Troy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Fairborn, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will take on Piqua at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Piqua is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Fairborn, they will head out on the road to face off against Xenia at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Xenia and Fairborn are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
