The Battle Mountain Huskies will head out to  take on the Coal Ridge Titans  at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The  teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Battle Mountain has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Coal Ridge will arrive with 11 straight  wins.
Battle Mountain came up short against  Glenwood Springs on Tuesday, falling  12-5.

  Jack Reed made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-3 with two  runs and one  double. He has become a key player for Battle Mountain: the team is 4-1 when he posts  at  least  two  runs, but 3-6 otherwise.  Tony Damici also deserves some recognition as  he  got his first  hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Coal Ridge made easy work of Basalt  on Saturday and carried off  a  10-2 victory. Considering the Titans have won 14 contests by more than five  runs this season, Saturday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Ben Simons made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing 3.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with four  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  four  stolen bases gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Jakson Slade was  incredible,  going 3-for-5 with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double. Another player making a difference was  Julian Perez, who  went 3-for-4 with two  RBI.
 Coal Ridge was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .310 or higher in 11 consecutive  matchups.
 Coal Ridge's win was  their ninth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 15-2-1. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Battle Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Battle Mountain has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 7.2  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Coal Ridge struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 6.7  strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
 Battle Mountain might still be hurting after the  11-5 defeat they got from Coal Ridge  in their previous meeting  two weeks ago. Can the Huskies avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
