Given Modesto Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Tracy is ranked 830th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Modesto Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Sykes led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds. The game was Sykes' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Flores, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Modesto Christian and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Tracy, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Modesto Christian will take on Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. As for Tracy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lodi at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th.
