The Nickerson Panthers's 16-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past St. John 49-46. Nickerson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Leading Nickerson to victory were Riley Brawner and Alex King. Brawner dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while King scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that King scored 15 or more points.
Nickerson's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7. As for St. John, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Nickerson will head out on the road to square off against Kingman at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kingman is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. St. John will take on LaCrosse at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully LaCrosse focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 back in December of 2023.
