Even though the MAST Community Charter Panthers have not done well against the Jenkintown Drakes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. MAST Community Charter sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over the Drakes. Winning may never get old, but MAST Community Charter sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Jenkintown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tommy Walsh. Despite the final result, he shot 6-for-12 from long range and dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. Walsh has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmond Trail, who scored 16 points.
Jenkintown struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
MAST Community Charter's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Jenkintown, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. MAST Community Charter will take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jenkintown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Quakertown Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
