The Wood River Wolverines will square off against the Skyview Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wood River has given up an average of 11.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Wood River came up short against Burley and fell 15-12. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Makinzie Nelson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Hadley Elsbree and Marlee McLean did some serious damage despite the final result: Elsbree scored a run while going 2-for-3, while McLean scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Amalia Boyle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Skyview took on Vallivue on Wednesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4. Hawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Falcons since on Wednesday.
Lily Bittinger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Grace Chambers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Skyview has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Wood River, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Skyview's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Wood River has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Skyview, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Wood River keep running through batters, or will the Hawks buck the trend?
