Two dominant backs in Jacob Cornejo and Josh Griffin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cherokee County Warriors will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Montgomery Catholic Knights at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cherokee County had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Westminster Christian Academy 50-6 on the road.
Cornejo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 144 yards. Cornejo is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played.
Meanwhile, Montgomery Catholic put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Booker T. Washington, posting a 28-0 victory on the road.
Griffin and Caleb Mccreary were among the main playmakers for Montgomery Catholic as the former rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Mccreary hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games.
Their wins bumped Cherokee County to 13-1 and Westminster Christian Academy to 11-3.
