The Franklin Flyers will take on the Hitchcock County Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Franklin sitting on three straight wins and Hitchcock County on eight.
Franklin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Axtell to the tune of 62-8 on Thursday. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 20 points or more this season.

Calvin Carraher was his usual excellent self, rushing for 152 yards and four scores on only nine carries, while also throwing for 61 yards and a pair of TDs. He is becoming a predictor of Franklin's success: when he posts at least 100 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Caiden Peterman was another key player, rushing for 75 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Franklin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 308 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Franklin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aragorn Green and Peterman. Peterman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Hitchcock County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 20-14 victory over Cambridge. Those 20 points were actually the fewest the Falcons have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hitchcock County's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Grady Erickson, Jayden Loghry, and Adam Kisker, who each picked up one sack apiece.
The win got Franklin back to even at 4-4. As for Hitchcock County, their record is now 8-0.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Franklin has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hitchcock County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 290.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Franklin was dealt a bruising 68-6 loss at the hands of Hitchcock County when the teams last played back in September. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Flyers were down 46-6.
