Softball Recap: TERRA Environmental Has No Trouble Against Coral Gables

TERRA Environmental made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Coral Gables, but they still couldn't quite topple them. TERRA Environmental put the hurt on Coral Gables with a sharp 20-5 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for TERRA Environmental, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Rigali was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Gema Castell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

TERRA Environmental was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

TERRA Environmental's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Coral Gables, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. TERRA Environmental will take on Mater Academy Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something TERRA Environmental will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Coral Gables, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Dade at 6:30 p.m. on the 18th.
