Basketball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Excelsior Classical Academy lost against Vance Charter back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions were beaten by the Vance Charter Knights 76-42. The Flying Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Jason Maldonado and Shawn Francis-Service certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Maldonado almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds, while Francis-Service posted 15 points and four steals. Francis-Service's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Excelsior Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Excelsior Classical Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Vance Charter, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Excelsior Classical Academy has already played their next contest, a 79-29 win against Cristo Rey Research Triangle on the 15th. As for Vance Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-31 victory against Eno River Academy on the 17th.
