The Penn Cambria Panthers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Central by a score of 59-57. While losing is never fun, Penn Cambria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Central is ranked 142nd).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brandon Rabish, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rabish has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Gibbons, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Penn Cambria and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Central, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penn Cambria will take on Westmont Hilltop at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Westmont Hilltop has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three games. As for Central, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Penns Valley Area at 7:15 p.m. Penns Valley Area is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
