Baseball Recap: Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Victorious

Norris City-Omaha-Enfield lost to Webber back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Fighting Cardinals walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Cardinals.

Javan Garrett made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Norris City-Omaha-Enfield is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise. Garrett was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Reece Willis and Cole Kingston did most of the damage at the plate: Willis went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles, while Kingston scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those runs were Kingston's first of the season. Zane Fiala was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Norris City-Omaha-Enfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Webber, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norris City-Omaha-Enfield will venture away from home to challenge Cobden at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Appleknockers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.14 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Webber, they will head out on the road to take on Wayne City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
