Ridgecroft is 9-1 against Albemarle School since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Ridgecroft Rams will head out on the road to take on the Albemarle School Colts at 6:00 p.m. Ridgecroft is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ridgecroft beat Lawrence Academy 52-46. Given Ridgecroft's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Lawrence Academy is ranked 172nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ridgecroft found their leader in underclassman Hannah Slaughter, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Taylor, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Albemarle School didn't have too much trouble with Northeast Academy on the road on Friday as they won 52-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Albemarle School.
Madelyn Delosreyes was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Addison Delosreyes was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Ridgecroft pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Albemarle School, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Ridgecroft have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 31.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Albemarle School, though, as they've been averaging only 33 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Ridgecroft didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Albemarle School in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory. Will Ridgecroft repeat their success, or does Albemarle School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
