Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Owensboro Catholic Aces, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. Owensboro Catholic's defeat signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak.
Owensboro Catholic's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Brady Atwell and William "Tutt" Carrico. Atwell threw for 516 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, while "Tutt" Carrico picked up 335 receiving yards and three touchdowns. "Tutt" Carrico's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Owensboro Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 14-1. As for Mayfield, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Owensboro Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mayfield also has no future games currently scheduled.
