5A Region II District 16 recap September 24, 2013
Damian Lindley and Dejour Williams provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Killeen. The connection went for 67 yards, the longest such play in 5A Region II District 16 this season.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Hendrickson beat Bryan 42-17,. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Stony Point's dynamic duo of Lindley and Justin Gamble proved to be unstoppable against the Kangaroos, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lindley threw for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns and Gamble had 113 yards receiving. Williams helped Stony Point's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 85 yards.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of Lindley and Gamble proved tough for Killeen to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Colton Russell was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 128 yards as McNeil defeated Sam Jones' team.
Gamble was the best wideout in 5A Region II District 16 this week as Craig Chessher's team bested the Kangaroos.
Aidan Barrera was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers defeated Killeen. He completed 10 passes for 106 yards and also ran for 93 yards.
Lindley put up the best numbers through the air as Stony Point topped the Kangaroos.
6-foot-2 quarterback Bear Fenimore of Round Rock Westwood is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,219. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Gamble. The Stony Point star has 37 catches for 545 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Hendrickson takes on Cedar Ridge. As it stands, Chip Killian's team is in first, while the Raiders are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hawks take on Cedar Ridge. Hendrickson has allowed 31 points this season, while the Raiders have given up 100. The Hawks allowed 17 points last week as they topped the Vikings.
Round Rock scaled the state rankings by moving to 164 from 205 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Dragons were able to move up by besting Belton 44-15.
