Austin Achieve is on a six-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Jarrell a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Austin Achieve Polar Bears will take on the Jarrell Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Austin Achieve fell victim to Lago Vista's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Vikings 66-0. While losing is never fun, Austin Achieve can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1160th, while Lago Vista is ranked 494th).
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-14, which was the final score in Jarrell's tilt against Navarro on Friday. Jarrell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-7.
Jarrell's defeat came about despite a quality game from Mason Dotson, who picked up 158 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Austin Achieve's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. Jarrell has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first seven games, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season.
Austin Achieve took a serious blow against Jarrell in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 72-0. Thankfully for Austin Achieve, Andrew Knebel (who threw for 222 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
