The Flagler Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Byers by a score of 41-39. Flagler has not had much luck with Byers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Flagler lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylie Stone, who scored ten points along with five steals. Stone has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Belle Schier was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Byers was led to victory by Averie Eymann and Hope Linnebur. Eymann scored ten points along with seven rebounds, while Linnebur scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Eymann continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.
Flagler's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Byers, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.
Flagler will head out on the road to square off against Idalia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Idalia's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Flagler's offense will have their work cut out for them. Byers won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Strasburg at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Strasburg is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
