Washington is 1-9 against Moreau Catholic since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. Washington will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Washington got the win against American by a conclusive 20-3. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Ynez Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elena Fotopoulos, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Madison Eoff also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Newark Memorial hit Moreau Catholic with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mariners came up short against the Cougars, falling 10-3. The loss continues a trend for the Mariners in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost six in a row.
Olivia Ritchie made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Sienna Rios, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Moreau Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Washington, their record now sits at 9-7.
Moreau Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Washington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Moreau Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Washington keep running through batters, or will the Mariners buck the trend?
Washington might still be hurting after the 18-5 loss they got from Moreau Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
