South Panola extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 1 this week by beating Southaven, 35-33. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Tigers.
Olive Branch took down Grenada 21-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Trey Bledsoe was the best wideout in the league this week as the Chargers fell to the Conquistadors. Bledsoe racked up five receptions for 88 yards. Darius Johnson helped Grenada's passing attack out by catching two balls for 29 yards.
Otis Wilson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 113 yards as Tupelo fell to Olive Branch. Quinn Tiggs also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
Austin Riley put up the best numbers through the air as DeSoto Central defeated the Golden Wave. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 226 yards and four touchdowns. Riley's favorite target this week was Steve Bradley, who caught two passes for 80 yards.
Payne Horan provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Chargers lost to Scott Samsel's team. He completed 13 passes for 180 yards and also ran for 88 yards.
South Panola's Rip Kirk and DeAndrea Harris have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Kirk has thrown for 1198 yards this season, while Harris, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 46 catches for 643 yards. The Jaguars' Nathan Vanderburg leads the league in rushing yards with 742.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Columbus and the Conquistadors. The Falcons comes into the matchup ranked 25th in the state, while Olive Branch ranks sixth.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Conquistadors take on Columbus. Olive Branch's offense has racked up 300 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Tony Stanford 's team has allowed only 83 on the year.
Lance Pogue's team and the Chargers played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Lance Pogue's team eventually emerging with a 35-33 victory. Kirk threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
