Brennan is on a 21-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Harlan is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Brennan Bears will take on the Harlan Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brennan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Harlan likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Brennan didn't have too much trouble with Jay at home as they won 64-49. Given Brennan's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Jay is ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Harlan strolled past Taft with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 42-26.
Harlan can attribute much of their success to Ruhama Salyers, who scored five points along with six steals, and Alexa Romero, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Romero is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Jaliyah Graham was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Brennan's win bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Harlan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Brennan against Harlan in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 59-28 victory. Will Brennan repeat their success, or does Harlan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
