The South Florence Bruins fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Wilson Tigers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 54-52. South Florence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Florence lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Krystal Baker, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Jada Montgomery was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Wilson was led to victory by Zoey Miller and Ariana Johnson. Miller scored 17 points, while Johnson scored 17 points along with five steals. Johnson is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Leah Spears, who scored 11 points along with six steals.
South Florence has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Wilson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Florence will square off against Myrtle Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilson, they will head out on the road to challenge West Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Florence is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
