Halifax has gone 8-2 against Greenwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Halifax will head out to challenge Greenwood at 4:30 p.m. Halifax is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
While Halifax's victory against Upper Dauphin Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Trojans on Wednesday. Seven seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Cohen Bechtel was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Dayton Bittner, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenwood). They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over Line Mountain on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.
Jacob Anderson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Greenwood got a massive performance out of A.J. Adlon, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Adlon has posted since back in April of 2024. Michael Hoy was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Halifax's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-8.
Greenwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Halifax hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Greenwood, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Halifax's hitters?
Halifax took their victory against Greenwood in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Halifax since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
