Even though The Dysart Demons scored an imposing 31 points on Saturday, the Odyssey Institute Minotaur still came out on top. Odyssey Institute managed a 37-31 win over Dysart. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Odyssey Institute.
Odyssey Institute's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Toy Landers led the charge by rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns. Odyssey Institute also got help from Deiontae L tyson who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Odyssey Institute's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Logan Roberts and his 2.5 sacks.
Dysart's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Avion Bailey, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Donovan Hinchey did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 128 receiving yards.
Odyssey Institute is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Dysart, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.
Odyssey Institute will take on Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yuma is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Dysart, they will head out on the road to face off against American Leadership Academy - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. American Leadership Academy - West Foothills will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
