It was a good run, but the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 52-34 fall against Barron Collier. LaBelle has struggled against Barron Collier recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Leading Barron Collier to victory were SHEILA FORBES and PEYTON HEFFLEFINGER. FORBES scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, while HEFFLEFINGER scored 19 points. FORBES also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Van't Hoff, who scored four points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
LaBelle's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Barron Collier, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaBelle will take on Lely at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lely knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully LaBelle likes a good challenge. As for Barron Collier, they will be playing at home against Neumann at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neumann presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barron Collier in Florida (Neumann is ranked 40th, while Barron Collier is ranked 167th).
