Stevens is 3-0 against Sotomayor since December of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Stevens Falcons will be playing at home against the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Stevens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Even though Stevens has not done well against Warren recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Stevens managed a 52-47 victory over Warren. Given Stevens' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Warren is ranked 628th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Amare Parham was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Ochoa, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Sotomayor came up short against Warren on Friday and fell 64-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sotomayor in their matchups with Warren: they've now lost three in a row.
Stevens' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-10. As for Sotomayor, they now have a losing record at 12-13.
Stevens came out on top in a nail-biter against Sotomayor when the teams last played back in December of 2023, sneaking past 51-48. Does Stevens have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sotomayor turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
