The Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks were the 63-55 winner over the Lyman Greyhounds when they last played one another on January 8th, but their luck changed this time around. Cornerstone Charter Academy took a 73-54 bruising from Lyman on Wednesday. Cornerstone Charter Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Several Ducks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Lebron, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Lebron posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Derick Augustin, who scored eight points along with five assists and two blocks.
Coleman Miller was a one-man wrecking crew for Lyman as he scored 22 points along with five assists and four steals. Brock Masters was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Cornerstone Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Lyman, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pathways at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Pathways focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday. As for Lyman, they will be playing at home against Dr. Phillips at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dr. Phillips is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
