The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack won the last time they faced the Winside Wildcats, and things went their way on Thursday too. Tri County Northeast blew past Winside 57-34. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Tri County Northeast did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri County Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Belt, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Belt has scored at least 25% of Tri County Northeast's points. Hunter Heikes was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Schutt, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Austin Nelson, who scored three points.
Tri County Northeast's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Winside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Tri County Northeast will head out on the road to face off against Ponca at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ponca presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tri County Northeast in Nebraska (Ponca is ranked 12th, while Tri County Northeast is ranked 214th). As for Winside, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Creighton at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th.
