Monrovia extended the longest winning streak in Rio Hondo this week by beating San Marino, 21-16. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Wildcats.
Monrovia and the Titans played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Monrovia eventually emerging with a 21-16 victory. Blake Heyworth threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 12 yards in the win.
Mason Bryant was the best wideout in the league this week as Ryan Maddox's team beat San Marino. Bryant tallied six receptions for 98 yards. Ge Vontray Ainsworth helped Monrovia's passing attack out by catching three balls for 47 yards.
Andy Paynter was the most productive running back in Rio Hondo this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 185 yards as La Canada beat Mike Hobbie's team. Teammate Jadon Henry added to the ground attack by rushing for 12 yards.
Monrovia's Heyworth and Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Heyworth has thrown for 1492 yards this season, while Bryant has 34 catches for 574 yards. The Spartans' Paynter leads the league in rushing yards with 784.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Titans take on South Pasadena. San Marino is in first place, while the Tigers are in third place.
There should be lots of points scored when the Wildcats and Temple City face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Monrovia comes in having scored 353 this season, while the Rams have scored 125. The Wildcats scored 21 points last week as they bested the Titans.
South Pasadena took down Blair 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
