There's no place like home for Edon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Gorham Fayette Eagles on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bombers, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Makayla Anspaugh made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Edon got a massive performance out of Allyson Derck, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Derck a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two RBI.
Edon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Edon's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for Gorham Fayette, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Looking ahead, Edon will challenge Hilltop at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Bombers surely won't give up without a fight. Gorham Fayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
