Pagosa Springs is 1-6 against La Junta since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Pagosa Springs Pirates are on the road again and play against the La Junta Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on November 4th. La Junta took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pagosa Springs, who comes in off a win.
Pagosa Springs can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They breezed by Bayfield on the road to the tune of 40-7. Pagosa Springs pushed the score to 40-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Bayfield cut but never quite recovered from.
Among those leading the charge was Seth Zeigler, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 68 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Creede Dozier, who threw for 73 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Meanwhile, La Junta unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They and Florence were almost perfectly matched up, but La Junta suffered an agonizing 14-13 defeat.
Despite the loss, La Junta got a solid performance out of Rylan Schmidt, who rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns. Schmidt hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games.
Pagosa Springs has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for La Junta, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.
Pagosa Springs lost to La Junta on the road by a decisive 22-6 margin in their previous matchup back in September. Can Pagosa Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
