The Pius X Thunderbolts entered their tilt with the Grand Island Islanders with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Pius X walked away with a 67-56 win over Grand Island on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pius X got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kellan Humm out in front who scored 16 points. Treyson Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Pius X is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Grand Island, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pius X will face off against Skutt Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Skutt Catholic and Pius X are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Grand Island, they will head out on the road to face off against Bryan at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bryan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday.
