The Life Prep Fire will be staying on the road on Sunday to face off against the Legacy Early College Lions at 3:30 p.m. on February 11th. Life Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Legacy Early College will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Life Prep humbled Garden City with a 72-17 victory. Given Life Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Garden City is ranked 161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Legacy Early College's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 80-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grace Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (56), Legacy Early College still had to take the loss.
Life Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Legacy Early College, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.
Life Prep came up short against Legacy Early College in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 59-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Legacy Early College's Mela Hollaway, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Now that Life Prep knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
