The Wilson Central Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Lebanon, falling 65-35. While losing is never fun, Wilson Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Lebanon is ranked 28th).
Despite the defeat, Wilson Central saw an underclassman step up: Brylee Fly scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Wilson Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lebanon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tiara Spencer, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Spencer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naleiya Walker, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals.
Wilson Central dropped their record down to 13-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Lebanon, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Smyrna the next time they take the court. Wilson Central will host Smyrna at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Lebanon will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
