After a string of six wins, The Rain Red Raiders''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 43-21 loss at the hands of Gulf Shores. Rain was down 37-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Amari Yelding threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Jamarcus Coats was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Bryce Dowdlan rushed for 68 yards.
Kolin Wilson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 106 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Another big playmaker for Gulf Shores was Ronnie Royal, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Rain's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Gulf Shores, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rain will take on Elmore County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gulf Shores, they will stay at home for another week and welcome Beauregard at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Beauregard is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
