The Douglas Tigers will square off against the Reed Raiders at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Douglas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Damonte Ranch with a sharp 20-8 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Kira Northcutt was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailee Lister, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Douglas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 12 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Reed faced McQueen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Raiders blew past the Lancers 14-4. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Britney Taelour spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Reed got a massive performance out of Breanna Staats, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Staats has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Jaelee Hammes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Douglas' record is now 15-18. As for Reed, their record now sits at 25-10.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Douglas has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .476. However, it's not like Reed struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Douglas might still be hurting after the 25-15 defeat they got from Reed in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
