The East Tartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Notre Dame 71-23. East was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-8.
Notre Dame had a senior duo take command as Gracie Ashley scored 20 points and Katie Strickland dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Strickland is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Savanah Holtgrewe, who scored seven points along with five assists.
East's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Notre Dame, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East will take on Hannan at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Notre Dame, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against South Gallia at 6:00 p.m. Notre Dame is on a 12-game streak of home wins, South Gallia a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
