The Raytown Bluejays pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Belton. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Raytown came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Belton is ranked 414th).
Belton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb Campbell out in front who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Campbell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Calvin Lacey, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Raytown's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Belton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-10.
Raytown will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ruskin at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Belton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chrisman at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
