Football Recap: Lely Piles Up the Points Against Aubrey Rogers

While Lely put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Aubrey Rogers. The Trojans took their matchup with ease, bagging a 58-0 win over the Patriots. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 24 points or more this season.

Lely's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Quinn, who threw for 138 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 56 yards and one touchdown. Quinn's passing game has become a key predictor of the Trojans' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Nino Joseph was another key rusher, rushing for 71 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries.

Lely's run defense was locked in: Aubrey Rogers could only muster 1.6 yards per carry. While seven picked up at least one total tackle, Noah Brown stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made one tackle in addition to snagging an interception which he returned for a touchdown. Lely didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.7.

Lely didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Malakai Green, Brown, and Dradley Avena picked up one apiece. Brown got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Lely, bringing their record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points over those games. As for Aubrey Rogers, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Lely wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 38-24 defeat against Naples on the 17th. As for Aubrey Rogers, they have also already played their next game, a 47-3 loss against Immokalee on the 17th.
