Softball Recap: North Knox Takes a Loss

North Knox dropped their record down to 3-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Sullivan Golden Arrows, falling 11-1. The Warriors were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Golden Arrows' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Sullivan, their win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

For Sullivan's part, Mylee Vandevender made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Vandevender was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sullivan got a big performance out of Aphtyn Earley, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Earley has posted since back in March. Jaylynn Hobbs was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, North Knox will head out on the road to square off against Bloomfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sullivan, they will challenge Cascade at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
